The Right Now Reframe

“What are you afraid of losing when nothing truly belongs to you?” - Marcus Aurelius

The right things to strive for are tools to find purpose and help others.

Everything else is just noise.

Time, food, shelter, water, joy; none of it is promised.

Do what matters to you because, in the end, there isn’t really anything you have to lose.

You’re all in on this game of life so live like it.

The only losers are those who do not play.

Some people take this idea as a reason to go do nothing with their lives.

That is not what this is about.

It is about doing the best possible thing you can think to do right now.

Sometimes that is spending time with family.

Most of the time it is working on something to be remembered by.

This weeks reframe:

“I’m all in on life. I live every day unafraid.”

Now read that again.

Tool of the Week: The Physiological Sigh

When you’re nervous, your chest tightens and breathing becomes shallow.

This makes carbon dioxide stay in your lungs.

Extra carbon dioxide in your lungs makes you feel anxious.

The physiological sigh is one of the most effective methods to relieve feelings of anxiety when this happens.

It works by reinflating your lungs to get more oxygen.

How to do it:

  1. Deeply inhale a full breath through the nose.

  2. Hold for 2 seconds.

  3. Inhale quickly through the nose once more (like a mini gasp but through your nose).

  4. Exhale slowly through your mouth.
